With the day of India's selection for the T20 World Cup 2024 nearing, the BCCI selection committee is keeping a close eye on how the Indian pace battery has been performing at the IPL 2024.
A plethora of talent is at their disposal for picking. And with the USA and West Indies wickets expected to be helpful for pacers, the selectors won't like to get their selection wrong for the showpiece event with talent and experience coming into play. MyKhel takes a look at five such pacers, who have left a strong impression in the IPL so far.

Jasprit Bumrah has been the standout performer this season, emerging as the top wicket-taker among pacers at 10 scalps. Bumrah reminded Mumbai Indians why they dearly missed him for the last few seasons as he once again reminded fans of his pinpoint accuracy and lethal yorkers.
While, Mumbai Indians have won just two of their last six matches and fellow bowlers have largely disappointed, Jasprit Bumrah has been in a class of his own. His ability to deliver in pressure situations, especially during the death overs, is a reminder to the selectors that they need him at the T20 World Cup as the backbone of the bowling attack.
With raw pace and aggression, Mayank Yadav has been a revelation in IPL 2024. Clocking speeds of up to 157 km per hour, Yadav needs no instruction anymore as he has has troubled batsmen with his hostile bowling and ability to hit the deck hard.
Six wickets to his name in three outings, two of them as match-winning efforts, has led high expectations among fans and experts alike that India need him at the World Cup, especially with Mohammed Shami out injured while likes of Mohammed Siraj and Bhuvneswar Kumar has been misfiring. However, a recent back injury forced him to sit out of the last two matches, raising concerns over his match fitness and consistency for a tournament as big as the World Cup.
Once thought to be out of contention of the Indian team, Khaleel Ahmed has exhibited flashes of brilliance throughout the tournament, showcasing his ability to generate pace and movement with the new ball.
Despite struggling in the death overs, Ahmed has managed to pick up crucial wickets at crucial junctures and is DC's leading wicket-taker at 9 wickets, making him a valuable asset for the franchise.
A rising star in Indian cricket, Arshdeep Singh has impressed with his ability to bowl effective yorkers and variations in pace, making the southpaw impactful both in the powerplay and death overs.
What remains a concern is is habit of conceding runs in the death overs, including his match-conceding over against Rajasthan Royals last weekend. However a healthy figure of nine wickets in six games, including a four-wicket haul, along with prior experience of playing the last T20 World Cup, will certainly keep him in the race.
One of the finds of IPL 2024, Yash Thakur has caught the eye with his ability to take wickets in clusters. The young pacer has already notched up a five-wicket haul, showcasing his potential to be a match-winner for his team. With impressive bowling figures and a hunger for success, Thakur is poised to have a bright future in Indian cricket. However, one such winning effort won't merit a spot in the Indian team and the youngster have the opportunity to show that in the absence of Mayank Yadav.
Avesh Khan and Jaydev Unadkat are two other pacers, who have missed out on our list due to lack of rich wicket haul. However, both of them have come into this tournament as much-improved players as their variations in bowling have made them valuable death-over bowlers.
