T20 World Cup 2024: After scoring just five runs (1, 4, 0) in the group stage, Virat Kohli is raring to get back to form and deliver for India in the Super 8 round of the T20 World Cup 2024.
After finishing as the leading run-scorer in IPL 2024, Virat Kohli failed to get going in the US leg of the tournament where all the teams found scoring really tough.

Regardless, India finished at the top of Group A and are now placed in Super 8 Group 1 alongside Australia, Afghanistan and Bangladesh. Top two teams from Group 1 and Group 2 of the Super 8 would qualify for the semi-finals.
Any hiccup in Super 8 stage could prove costly for India, and to avoid any such unwanted situation, India would be wanting their former captain and star batter Virat Kohli to be on top of his game.
The 35-year-old could very well be playing his last T20 World Cup for India, and he left no stone unturned during Team India's first net session after arriving in Barbados to face Afghanistan in their first Super 8 match on Thursday (June 20).
Virat Kohli batted for the longest duration in the net session and faced the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel. He batted on different practice pitches, and faced a host of local spinners from Barbados.
Kohli did not only sweat out the most with the bat but in fact celebrated with a roar after slog-sweeping Jasprit Bumrah for a six. Notably, Bumrah has conceded only 33 sixes in his 65-match T20I career. In his three outings so far, Bumrah has been hit for only one six in the ongoing ICC showpiece event.
During the net session, Kohli was also having a long chat with captain Rohit Sharma and vice-captain Hardik Pandya. The three players were understandably discussing India's game plan for the upcoming matches against Afghanistan, Bangladesh (June 22) and Australia (June 24).
The conditions in the West Indies are expected to suit India and Virat Kohli. It's hot and humid in the Caribbean islands, but that would not bother the Men in Blue who played IPL 2024 matches in similar conditions before leaving the Indian shores of the T20 World Cup 2024.
