India has qualified for the semifinal of the T20 World Cup 2024 after beating Australia in their final Super 8 match on Monday (June 24).
It was yet another fantastic outing for Rohit Sharma and his team who beat the Aussies by 24 runs and thus stamped their berth in the last four of the tournament.

In the semifinal, India will be up against defending champions England on Thursday (June 27). The match will be played at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. These two teams also met in the semifinal in 2022, but England got the better of India that time.
Ahead of India's match against England, there is a massive concern regarding rain. The weather in Guyana on Thursday can be a daunting one as around 80 per cent of rain is predicted throughout the day. Also, due to logistical and broadcasting reasons, the India vs England match in Guyana won't have any reserve day. The match starts at 10:30 am local time and the organizers will have till the evening to conclude the match.

If rain washes out a much such as the semifinal of a World Cup, it is indeed a damaging one for any team. But in this case, India can be the gainers as they will qualify straight for the Final.
As per the T20 World Cup rules this year, the 2nd semifinal will be decided by Super 8 finishes if rain abandons the proceedings. India has qualified for the semifinal as Group 1 winners in Super Eight, while England only finished 2nd in their Super Eight Group 2. Hence, the defending champions will exit if rain washes out the semifinal in Guyana.
