After two matches in the ongoing T20 World Cup Pakistan is in hot water right now. Losing both of the first two games against the USA and India has lowered their chances of qualifying for the knock-out stage.
In addition, injury issues are also hurting Pakistan's campaign for T20 World Cup 2024 internally. Imad Wasim, a left-arm spinner and a lower-order batter, has increased the headache for Pakistan due to his injury dilemma.

The key allrounder for Pakistan has missed the first match against the USA due to a suspected rib injury. Though there were reports about his return from the USA leaving the squad behind, he played against India. But the injury seems more serious than thought earlier.
Wasim is also being criticised heavily due to his poor batting display against India while chasing a target of 120. Though he did well with the ball, his claims before the World Cup about his versatile batting ability and stating himself as the best all-rounder, made him a target for a flurry of trolls and criticisms.
Despite the lacklustre performance against India, the all-rounder is crucial for Pakistan. Wasim provides extra depth to the Pakistan batting order, as he has a handful of experience in the Caribbean by playing in the Caribbean Premier League. This is the reason he was brought back from retirement for this World Cup.
Besides that, Pakistan is also lacking quality spinners in this campaign. Out-of-form Azam Khan and Shadab Khan are the other alternatives. In this murky situation, Wasim was pivotal for the team, providing the much-necessary balance to the squad.
There are rumours that the match against India was the last match the all-rounder has played in the World Cup as there is a very small chance that he will recover before the tournament ends.
In this scenario, Mehran Mumtaz could be the substitute for him. The 21-year-old left-arm spinner has yet to make an appearance for the national team. But, as the match against Canada is concerned, Azam Khan could be the possible replacement.
Any further slip-ups from the former champions will heavily diminish their chance to stay relevant in this competition, as India and USA, occupy the top two spots with already two consecutive wins. Canada will also be confident after their first-ever win in the T20 World Cup against Ireland. Hence, as of the current situation, the confusion about Imad Wasim will play a key role for the remainder of the World Cup for Pakistan.
