Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was forced to leave the field in the team's opening game victory over Ireland on Wednesday (June 5) after an injury to his arm during the T20 World Cup 2024 Group A clash at the Nassau County International Stadium in New York.
Rohit suffered a blow to his upper arm from a delivery by Irish pacer Josh Little and left the field after a few overs, retired hurt, having scored an unbeaten 52 off 37. During the post-match presentation, Rohit allayed any fears, stating, "It was a sore arm."

However, the star Indian opener has reportedly suffered another injury scare ahead of the much-anticipated India vs Pakistan clash, which is scheduled to be held on Sunday (June 9) at the same venue in New York, which has received a lot of flak.
As per RevSportz, Rohit suffered a blow to his hand when he was facing Sri Lankan throwdown specialist Nuwan in the nets. The skipper was immediately attended to, but resumed batting shortly after from the other end of the practice net.
However, he trained only for few minutes before leaving. So, it is still unclear if Rohit will be fit enough to play against Pakistan. Going by the visuals that he batted after the blow to his arm, Rohit is likely to lead the team on Sunday (June 9).
The pitches at the New York venue has received a lot of criticism with experts even questioning if a T20 game should be played on these wickets after a few low-scoring games. The main talking point was the uneven bounce at times, prompting ICC to release a statement.
"The pitches used so far at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium have not played as consistently as we would have all wanted," ICC said in statement a day after India defeated Ireland.
"The world-class grounds team have been working hard since the conclusion of yesterday's game to remedy the situation and deliver the best possible surfaces for the remaining matches."
