T20 World Cup 2024: Will Team India change Training Venue in New York after Complaints?

By MyKhel Staff

India coach Rahul Dravid and captain Rohit Sharma are not amused with the facilities team India is provided in USA ahead of the T20 World Cup.

Team India is currently in New York for their T20 World Cup campaign and the facilities they have been provided are a huge cause of concern.

India

As per reports, Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma both are surprised and unhappy with the training facilities, pitch and other infrastructure in New York. Team India is practising at Cantiague Park before taking part in the solitary warm-up match against Bangladesh on June 1 at the Nassau County Stadium.

However, the facilities at Cantiague Park are said to be below par and can induce injuries for players. With Team India currently managing injury-prone players, they can't afford any fresh setbacks.

"Everything is makeshift - from pitches to other facilities. Safe to say everything is very average in nature. The team has raised their concerns," a source was quoted as saying to Cricket Next.

Will Team India change the training venue in New York?

India's first match of the T20 World Cup is against Ireland on June 5, followed by a blockbuster clash against Pakistan on June 9. Three of India's four group stage matches will be played in New York, which means they will have to train at Cantiague Park for the majority of the days.

And when it comes to a change in the venue, as per reports, there is no chance for India to shift their training to a different place at the moment. Hence, the team will have to be extra careful to avoid any injuries. The Men in Blue has had a couple of practice sessions already as the likes of Rishabh Pant, captain Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and Kuldeep Yadav took part in it.

It is a huge boost for India as Hardik Pandya reportedly batted for an hour and bowled for around forty minutes during the practice session on Thursday. Virat Kohli didn't fly to USA with the first batch, but has left India and is likely to join the team on Friday.
