Indian fans celebrating in West Bengal's Bardhaman!
A massive credit goes to Gautam Gambhir as well. He backed his troops amid all the pressure, and has proved the world that he was spot on. Gambhir has now won 4 ICC titles - 2 as player and 2 as a coach.
India lift the Title. India are the Champions of the T20 World Cup 2026!
"It was a long journey when Rohit bhai, Jay bhai kept faith in me to lead the side. It has been a long time. We were playing good cricket and was going really well. We wanted to follow all the good habits and taught the boys that. Its important to understand what they (Abhishek, Sanju) are capable of. They always have had something special and the way Bumrah, Axar, Hardik have taken care of each other has been special. I can call Jasprit as a national treasure. He knows what needs to be done and how to be done, and I am happy for that," Suryakumar says.
A warm round of applause for the New Zealand team. An excellent reception from the Ahmedabad crowd for them.
The Umpires and the Match Referee are being awarded with their mementos.
A huge cheer when the name of ICC chairman Jay Shah is uttered.
The final award ceremony starts.

This victory has filled every Indian heart with…
Suryakumar Yadav, Gautam Gambhir and the entire Indian contingent and their families are on the ground.
"I still have 10 years left in my career. I am only at the halfway stage. For me, ICC tournaments matter the most and I would love to win 5-6 more titles in the next ten years. I want to win every tournament that I play," says Hardik Pandya.
"The Hardik Pandya that you see is because many other people have taken care of mine. And since Maheika has arrived in my life, it has all been about victory for Hardik Pandya. She has been a boon to my life," says Hardik Pandya.
A stunning win for India. This is also India's third consecutive ICC title in three consecutive years.

Sanju Samson has been an inspirational story in this T20 World Cup. That is a comeback for the ages, and Samson has done it. The entire world of Sanju was shattered and the India player has emerged from the ruins and has stamped his authority.
"It feels like a dream-a surreal feeling. I'm out of words, out of emotions; I'm just living it. Good evening.
Honestly, this journey started one to two years ago, when I was with the 2024 World Cup-winning team in the West Indies but couldn't play a single game. I kept visualizing, dreaming, and working hard. This is exactly what I wanted to achieve back then. I knew I had to put in the work, and by God's grace, things have turned around today.
Right after the New Zealand series, I was broken-completely out of my mind. I thought, 'My dreams are shattered. What else can I do?' But God had different plans. I came back strong for the crucial games and delivered for my country. I'm so proud and happy that I had the courage to dream big, and everything has turned out beautifully. I'm deeply grateful.
The former Indian team has really reached out to support me. Over the last couple of months, I've been in constant touch with Sachin Sir-Sachin Tendulkar. When I was on the sidelines in Australia, not playing, I wondered, 'What mindset do I need now?' So I reached out to him, and we had huge, meaningful conversations. Just yesterday, he called to check on my feelings."

Sanju Samson is the Player of the Tournament.
"Extremely happy to win and I was motivated ahead of the match. Before this tournament, I was in that zone where I felt I was trying too hard, because I was really, really well, but some way or the other, I was feeling that maybe I'm trying too hard. Well, in this format, I let the game come to me. I was clear. I used to prepare and then read the situation and believe in myself. That is what I tried to do in this tournament. My individual assessment of my game has always been my strength. So, yeah, couldnt be really happy. World Cup final, started my cricket here. Doesn't get better than this. We never panicked even when things were not oing for us. Thankful for all the support."

Jasprit Bumrah has become the Player of the Match for his 4/15 with the ball.

India have won the T20 World Cup Final by 96 runs, which is the biggest margin of win in a T20 World Cup.

"We've decided to party for a couple of days. And then we will be back," says Tilak Varma.
"The emotion I can't explain right now. We have a great team and have match winners. I will be able to talk about emotion after it sinks in. The role for a bowler is to stop the batters in as less runs as possible. I will bring my phone and have already thought of creating 10-15 reels," Arshdeep Singh speaks with his wit.
"Its an amazing feeling for everyone. I hope many more to come." Washington Sundar says.
My role was to hit big sixes. I always back myself to hit sixes. I have developed my bowling and I am going to come better next time. One of the biggest stages today. The crowd was amazing and the tournament belongs to the supporters of Indian team. All credit goes to them for supporting in bad times
"I think faith the support staff and coaches showed on me. I think I got emotional in between the tournament as well, because If you see that I wanted to do really well for in all the games, probably, but I couldn't. But then I was like, I wanted to talk to coach or captain. They always wanted to come to me and just say one thing. You are, you are going to win as the big games. And I just wanted to wait for that day. And you cant ask for the better day for this."
"I have never felt the love the team showed me. The coach and captain kept faith," Abhishek Sharma says.
Gautam Gambhir gives Suryakumar Yadav a warm hug. India have reedemed themselves. The nightmare of November 19, 2023 has finally been erased with March 8, 2026.
Suryakumar Yadav was part of that Indian team which lost the ODI World Cup in 2023. And at the same stadium, the Indian team has showcased their might!
India's innings was powered by an explosive start. Openers Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson raced to 92/0 in the powerplay. Abhishek scored a quick 52 off 21 balls, while Sanju Samson played a sensational knock of 89 off 46 deliveries, featuring five fours and eight sixes.
Ishan Kishan contributed a brisk 54 off 25 balls. Later, Shivam Dube's unbeaten cameo, including a 24-run final over against James Neesham, pushed India past 250. Neesham took 3 wickets for 46 runs, providing New Zealand some late relief.
Chasing 256 is proving extremely challenging for New Zealand. They lost early wickets, slipping to around 88/5 after 10 overs and 103/5 after 11 overs. Key Indian bowlers like Axar Patel, Hardik Pandya, Varun Chakaravarthy, and Jasprit Bumrah dismantled the top order. Players such as Tim Seifert, Finn Allen, Glenn Phillips, and Rachin Ravindra fell cheaply, leaving the required rate soaring beyond 16-17 runs per over.
Bumrah then cleaned up the tail and ended up with 4 wickets, as the Kiwis were bowled out for 159 runs. India won the match by 96 runs.
Player of the Match: Jasprit Bumrah (IND)
Player of the Tournament: Sanju Samson (IND)
India have dominated throughout and appeared poised for a historic victory, aiming for their third T20 World Cup title and first on home soil. The match showcased aggressive batting and effective bowling in a high-stakes thriller.
