The ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 has created history, becoming the most-watched edition in the tournament's history. The achievement was announced by Jay Shah, Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC), in a social media post on Wednesday.
"The journey of the @ICC #T20WorldCup 2026 began with the ambition to make it the most global and accessible cricket event ever. I am humbled that the event's viewership in India has crossed 500 million, the highest ever for any T20 World Cup," ICC president Jay Shah posted on X.

The ICC chairman further said that it had been heartening to see concurrent viewership on JioHotstar reach a peak of 60.5 million. He added that with the knockout matches of the tournament beginning that night, they hoped the immense love shown by Indian fans would help break even more records.
As things stand, two semifinals and one final of the tournament are yet to be played. However, the figures have crossed the last edition, which took place in the USA and West Indies in 2024.
These numbers come on the back of the phenomenal success of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which had earlier set new benchmarks with 250 billion minutes of watch time and a television peak audience of 122 million.
Co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 began on February 7 and is scheduled to conclude with the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, March 8.
The competition has delivered several nail-biting encounters, including the thrilling India vs West Indies Super 8 clash at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
