T20 World Cup 2026 Super Eights Qualification
In this article, we shall take a look at how the groups are positioned as of now, ahead of the final 13 group stage matches. Check out what are the qualification scenario for the teams.
Group A
Teams: India, Pakistan, Netherlands, Namibia, USA
Situation
India have already qualified for the playoffs while Namibia are eliminated.
Qualification Scenario
Pakistan will play Namibia in the final group stage encounter and a win for Pakistan will take them to the Super Eights. If Pakistan lose, then USA will qualify unless the Netherlands beat India by a mammoth margin.
For Netherlands, a victory over India is must and that also by a gigantic margin of more than 100 runs. Also, Pakistan would have to lose against Namibia.
USA have kept themselves alive and a Pakistan defeat would take them to Super 8s.
Group B
Teams: Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Australia, Ireland, Oman
Situation
Only Oman are eliminated.
Qualification Scenario
Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe have won both of their first two matches, while Australia suffered a shock defeat at the hands of Zimbabwe.
Ireland look almost eliminated but have an outside chance if they beat Zimbabwe in their final group stage match.
If Australia lose to Sri Lanka on Monday (February 16) and then Zimbabwe beat Ireland on Tuesday (February 17) - then Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka would advance. But as of now, things remain balanced.
Group C
Teams: West Indies, Nepal, England, Scotland, Italy
Situation
West Indies have qualified while Nepal are eliminated.
Qualification Scenario
A win for England over Italy on Monday would seal the deal for them and settle this group. If Italy pull off a miracle, then this group opens up again. In that case, Scotland's match against Nepal and Italy's encounter against West Indies would have huge importance in the proceedings.
Italy require victories over England and the West Indies to ensure qualification in this World Cup. Even a defeat against the Windies would keep them in the hunt if they have a superior Net Run Rate.
Scotland have to beat Nepal and then hope for Italy's win over England but defeat to West Indies.
Group D
Teams: South Africa, New Zealand, Afghanistan, UAE, Canada
Situation
None qualified, none eliminated.
Qualification Scenario
South Africa have won their three matches so far but are yet to qualify. As UAE play Afghanistan on Monday, a win for the Afghans would seal the deal for the Proteas.
New Zealand have so far won two matches out of three and will have to beat Canada on Tuesday (Feb 17) to ensure their place in the playoffs and a defeat for the UAE would seal the deal for them.
Afghanistan will have to win both of their matches and hope for New Zealand's defeat against Canada to have a chance for Super 8 qualification.
