India is set to return to their fortress, the Wankhede, to face England in the second semifinal of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026. Although the men in blue registered a phenomenal win over the Windies after chasing down their highest total at the Eden Gardens, there is a chink in the armour of the men in blue, and that has been their catching. Out of all the teams that have qualified for the Super 8, India has the worst caching efficiency.
If India does not improve its fielding and clutch on to the half-chances created by England, there is a chance that the men in blue can bottle at the business end of the tournament.

During the high-pressure "virtual quarter-final" against the West Indies cricket team, India national cricket team struggled badly in the field, with costly dropped catches nearly handing the match to their opponents. The team missed three crucial chances as the Windies piled up a formidable total of 195.
Abhishek Sharma was the one who came under the crossfire, having dropped Roston Chase in the fifth over. Chase made the most out of the missed chance and smashed a quickfire 40. Later on, Tilak Verma dropped Sherfane Rutherford. To complete the night, Abhishek went on to drop the dangerous West Indian Rovman Powell, who went on to blast a 34 off just 19 balls.
As a result, the Windies managed to set a daunting total of 195/4, which forced the Men in Blue to chase down their all-time World Cup run-chase record to stay alive in the tournament.
India has to be on point in its fielding efficiency and catching so that they do not give the English batter a second chance, unlike the last game. England, on the other hand, is the team that leads the tournament in catching efficiency at 87.2%. The Three Lions have also found a remarkable form in their batting lineup towards the business end of the tournament, especially their middle-order: Brooks, Banton, Curran, and Jacks, who will take full advantage of the slip-ups in fielding committed by the Indian team.
If India continues to provide extra lives to England's power-hitters, the cost of a dropped catch could be the World Cup trophy itself. Overall, India rank 15th among the 20 teams in catching efficiency. Surprisingly, even first-timers Italy sit higher.
