T20 World Cup for Blind: India beat Sri Lanka by 9 wickets

Batting first Sri Lanka scored 186 runs in 20 overs but India chased down the total within 13.3 overs losing 1 wicket.

Ahmedabad, Feb 4: India continued their winning streak by defeating Sri Lanka by nine wickets in the T20 World Cup for Blind at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Stadium here today, February 4.

Put in to bat by India, Sri Lanka rode on Chandana Deshapriya's (62) half-century and Pathum Saman Kumara's 30 to score 186 for eight in their allotted 20 overs.

In reply, Prakash J put on a brilliant unbeaten 99 that included 20 hits to the fence, to steer the home team to victory in just 13.3 overs.

Besides Prakash, Ketan Patel also chipped in with a crucial 56 not out to help India post a comfortable win. For Sri Lanka, Dinesh Nihara Mathugama took the lone Indian wicket.

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and wicket-keeper Parthiv Patel were present on the occasion. Rupani assured support to blind cricket players from the state.

"Government has always supported the differently-abled, and is with them. We have received request to provide government jobs to the cricketers playing in national team.

"We will consider and take positive decision in this regard," said the Chief Minister.
