The ninth edition of the T20 World Cup has started and we have already witnessed a few decent batting knocks.
Over the years, stalwarts of the game have graced the competition, creating innumerable moments of sheer batting brilliance on the pitch. Although T20 has become a much faster pacer game, scoring a hundred in this format is still an incredibly tough mission.

But in the history of the T20 World Cup, we have seen several numbers of centuries scored over the years.
A total of 11 centuries have been scored so far in T20 World Cups. West Indies legend Chris Gayle was the first centurion when he smacked South Africa in the inaugural edition of the tournament.
Chris Gayle is also the solitary person in world cricket to score multiple centuries in the T20 World Cup. The former West Indies batted has two hundreds to his name.
Former New Zealand batter Brendon McCullum holds the record for the highest individual score in a T20 World Cup match, when he scored a scintillating 123 against Bangladesh in 2012.
The 2009 T20 World Cup edition, which was held in England, is so far the only season which didn't witness a century in the competition.
