T20 World Cup Final Man of the Match: Who Has Won Player of the Match Award in Every Title Clash?

Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan won the first ever Player of the Match or Man of the Match award in the T20 World Cup final for his impressive bowling display against Pakistan.

The left-arm pace-bowling all-rounder ended with bowling figures of 3 for 16 in 4 overs, claiming important wickets of the arch-rivals with the dismissal of Shoaib Malik and Shahid Afridi.

Having missed out on the title in the inaugural edition, former all-rounder Shahid Afridi guided Pakistan to the title with a man of the match performance in the final of the second edition of the show-piece tournament.

The leg-spinner first conceded just 20 runs from his four overs and picked up a wicket before a match-winning knock with the bat - a 40-ball unbeaten 54 to complete the chase against Sri Lanka.

Little-known England batter Craig Kieswetter went on to bag the player of the match in a final in the third edition, while West Indies all-rounder Marlon Samuels, the only player to bag the man of the match award twice in a T20 World Cup final, won the award in 2012 and 2016 editions.

Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara also won the award in the title-winning year in 2014. Australia's Mitchell Marsh and England's Sam Curran won the most recent awards in 2021 and 2022 respectively.

All the nine editions have seen the man of the match award being given to the team winning the tournament, while the award was given for batting performance in 6 editions, 2 for bolwing display and one for an all-round performance. Here is a look at the MoM winners list:
