T20 World Cup: Jos Buttler damages Solar Panel with 104 metre Long Six, Slams 5 Sixes in an Over - Watch

By MyKhel Staff

Jos Buttler went berserk against USA in the Super 8 match of the T20 World Cup 2024 on Sunday (June 23).

Buttler dismantled the USA bowling attack and scored 83 runs off just 36 deliveries as England chased the target of 116 with more than 10 overs to spare, and thus the defending champions qualified for the Semifinals.

Buttler went aggressive from the start. He took on USA's key bowler Saurabh Netravalkar and hit him for a massive 104-metre-long six. The magnificent blow hit the roof of the stadium in Bridgetown and damaged the solar panel on top of it.

Buttler came down the ground and started belting away boundaries across the pitch. And the moment of his rampage came in the 9th over. Harmeet Singh came into bowl and after a single from Phil Salt in the first ball, Buttler annihilated the USA bowler with five mammoth sixes.

He got to his half-century with the first maximum, and then continued the massacre on the American bowlers. In the end, Buttler's batting brilliance ensured England's participation in the semifinals.

The incredible hitting power of the England star was on full show as he and Phil Salt chased the score down with an unbeaten partnership, thus registering the biggest victory (by balls remaining) in the history of the T20 World Cup.

Earlier, England bowled superbly to restrict USA to just 115 runs. The co-hosts lost their last five wickets without adding any runs as they got bundled out for that paltry score. Chris Jordan took a Hat-Trick and ended up with 4 wickets in the match.

England participation means the match between West Indies and South Africa becomes a virtual quarter-final. The winners of that match will advance to the semifinals. In the other Super 8 group, Afghanistan, along with India and Australia are in contention to make it to the semifinals.
