West Indies has encountered a setback ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024 as Jason Holder will miss the tournament due to an injury.
Holder, who was playing for Worcestershire in the County Championship, has been replaced by Obed McCoy.

Cricket West Indies (CWI) has not disclosed the specifics of Holder's injury or recovery timeline. Chief selector Desmond Haynes expressed the loss, stating, "Jason is an experienced player in our set-up. His absence will undoubtedly be felt both on and off the field. We look forward to having a fully fit Jason with us again soon."
Despite Holder's absence, Haynes showed confidence in McCoy. The left-arm pacer will be hoping to make a mark in the sudden opportunity that he has received.
"While it is unfortunate to lose a player of Jason's calibre, we are confident in the abilities of Obed McCoy. Obed has shown remarkable skill and promise in his performances, and this opportunity will allow him to further showcase his talent on the international stage," Haynes further added.
CWI also announced a pool of five reserve players. If any further injuries occur within the squad, a replacement will be picked from this reserve pool. The West Indies, who are co-hosts and two-time champions of the T20 World Cup, will start their campaign against Papua New Guinea on June 2.
