India has lifted the T20 World Cup 2024 title after a thrilling victory by 7 runs against South Africa in the Final on Saturday (June 29).
This was the 9th edition of the tournament and India won the title for the 2nd time in their history, first winning in the inaugural edition in 2007. As the latest edition concludes, curiosity is among the fans about the next edition of the tournament.

The next edition of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup will take place in Sri Lanka and India, as both countries will host the tournament. It is set to be hosted in 2026 and the February-March window is likely to conduct the tournament.
In November 2021, ICC announced that Sri Lanka and India would jointly host the 2026 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. This marks their first time hosting a T20 World Cup together; Sri Lanka previously hosted in 2012, while India hosted in 2016.
There will be 20 teams participating in the World Cup. The teams will be divided into four groups of five, with the top two teams from each group progressing to the Super 8 round. In this stage, the qualifiers will be split into two groups of four, and the top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout stage, which two semi-finals and a final.

Already 12 teams have qualified for the next edition of the T20 World Cup in 2026. India and Sri Lanka have qualified as the co-hosts of the tournament.
Apart from them, top seven teams from the T20 World Cup 2024 have also qualified, which means Australia, England, USA, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, West Indies and South Africa have booked their berth.
Apart from them, three other best-ranked teams at the end of the previous T20 World Cup edition have also qualified for the next edition. As of June 30, 2024 those three teams are New Zealand, Ireland and Pakistan - which means they will also take part in the next T20 World Cup.
The final 8 teams will qualify via the regional qualifiers. Two teams will come from Europe qualifier, 1 team will join from the East Asia-Pacific qualifiers, 1 team will join from the Americas, while two each will be joining from Asia and Africa qualifiers.
