Hardik Pandya's chances in the India squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup is not cemented at all.
The Mumbai Indians captain is enduring a torrid spell in the ongoing IPL 2024 and that can elongate as Pandya's selection hopes are currently hanging by a thread.

After switching to Mumbai Indians from Gujarat Titans, troubles began for him on the field. This sudden move made the relationship between the all-rounder and the fans of his former team. Also abruptly replacing Rohit Sharma from MI-captaincy turned the Mumbai fans against him.
There was controversy at the beginning of IPL 2024 about the fitness of the MI skipper. Some sources reported that he had been hiding his injury to play in the IPL. These controversies directly affected his performances in this IPL.
In nine matches Pandya scored only 197 runs with a strike rate of 151.54. His bowling performances have also been disappointing. The Indian allrounder bagged only four wickets so far, with an economy rate of 11.95. These below-average performances do not help him to be selected for the team in India.
His lack of bowling and probably the effectiveness of that can jeopardize the chances fo him. For the all-rounder spot, beside Ravindra Jadeja, Shivam Dube is more likely to become the first choice in this T20 WC. The only positive news for Pandya is the lack of options for a seam-bowling allrounder. Except for Shivam Dube, there is no other alternative.
The announcement of the full squad is expected to happen on Monday (April 29) and as of now, there is a high chance that this seasoned Indian all-rounder may make it to the squad but his starting position doesn't look guaranteed at all.
