Veteran all-rounder Tahlia McGrath has been appointed as the captain of the Australian women's cricket team for the upcoming three-match ODI series against India.
Regular captain Alyssa Healy will miss the series due to a knee injury. The matches are scheduled to begin on December 5 in Brisbane, followed by games on December 8 and 11 in Brisbane and Perth.

Georgia Voll, a promising young batter from Sydney Thunder, has earned her first call-up to the national squad. She joins experienced players like Beth Mooney, Ellyse Perry, Megan Schutt, and Annabel Sutherland. This selection reflects her impressive performance in the Women's Big Bash League.
Australia is set to face T20 world champions New Zealand in another three-match ODI series from December 19-23 in Wellington. These matches are part of the ICC Women's Championship, where Australia currently leads the standings. The team aims to maintain its top position through these challenging fixtures.
Cricket Australia's Head of Performance Women's Cricket and National Selector, Shawn Flegler, explained that Healy's absence from the India series is a strategic decision. It aims to ensure her fitness for the Ashes series. Her participation in the New Zealand series will be assessed in the coming weeks.
Flegler also commented on McGrath's leadership qualities, noting her strong performance during the T20 World Cup. "Tahlia McGrath impressed as captain in tough conditions during the World Cup," he stated. The squad has been chosen with next year's Ashes series and ICC Women's World Cup in mind.
The squad for the India series includes Darcie Brown, Ashleigh Gardner, Kim Garth, Alana King, Phoebe Litchfield, Tahlia McGrath, Sophie Molineux, Beth Mooney, Ellyse Perry, Megan Schutt, Annabel Sutherland, Georgia Voll, and Georgia Wareham. Alyssa Healy is expected to return for the New Zealand series only.
Australia's focus remains on maintaining their lead in the ICC Women's Championship while preparing for future international competitions. The team is determined to perform well against both India and New Zealand as they build towards next year's major tournaments.
