Bengaluru, February 10: Controversy hit Vijay Hazare Trophy after Tamil Nadu dropped India Test opener M Vijay for the remainder of the tournament after the batsman failed to report for a match.
Vijay cited a 'shoulder injury' to stay away from Tamil Nadu's match against Mumbai on Friday (February 9). But a mail from the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association made it clear that the state body, team physio and the selectors were unaware of any such injury to Vijay. He has been replaced by Pradosh Ranjan Paul.
Vijay did not appear for Tamil Nadu's match against Mumbai at the SSN College ground and he in fact informed coach Hrishikesh Kanitkar about his decision to skip the owing to the injury only around 7.30 am - some one and half hour ahead of the match.
Ganga Sridhar Raju was included in the team to partner Kaushik Gandhi at the totem pole position.
Vijay had played against Goa and Gujarat making 51 and 11 and the TNCA officials, it is learnt that have been miffed with Vijay because of his 'attitude.' But the TNCA still has not taken any disciplinary action against Vijay.
