Tamim Iqbal health update: Bangladesh cricket stalwart Tamim Iqbal is showing signs of recovery following a health scare that saw him suffer a cardiac arrest during a Dhaka Premier League match on Monday.
However, medical professionals caution that the next 48 to 72 hours will be crucial in determining his path to full recovery. The veteran batter collapsed while representing Mohammedan Sporting Club against Shine Pukur at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP) in Savar.

Quick medical intervention ensured he was immediately transferred to KPJ Specialized Hospital, where an angiogram procedure was performed to clear a blockage in one of his arteries. Professor Abu Jafar, Director General of the Health Directorate, provided an update on Tamim's condition, acknowledging his progress but emphasizing the need for continued medical vigilance.
"Tamim's condition is improving, and he has started walking a little. However, the next 48 to 72 hours remain critical. He must wait at least three months before resuming normal activities, including sports," Jafar stated.
Adding to the update, Professor Abdul Wadud from the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases confirmed that an echocardiogram conducted on Wednesday morning showed positive indications of heart function. "His heart function appears normal, but we must remain cautious. Abnormal rhythms could still occur," Wadud noted.
Tamim has been strictly advised against any immediate physical exertion, with doctors urging careful monitoring over the coming days. "While his condition has improved, a sudden deterioration cannot be ruled out. It is crucial to minimize exertion and maintain strict monitoring," Wadud added.
Amid his recovery, Tamim took to social media to express his heartfelt gratitude to well-wishers who stood by him in this difficult time. "We live due to heartbeat, but this heartbeat can stop without any announcement, and we tend to forget that often," he wrote on his verified Facebook account, reflecting on the fragility of life.
He went on to acknowledge the medical team and those who supported him, calling their efforts instrumental in his recovery. "By the grace of Allah and blessings of everyone, I returned back and am fortunate to have had good people around me during this crisis," he added.
Tamim's family remains in consultation with medical experts to decide on the next steps in his recovery. Fans and the cricketing fraternity continue to rally behind him, hoping for a smooth return to full health.
