Right-arm pacer Taskin Ahmed etched his name in the record books with a phenomenal spell of 7/19 for Durbar Rajshahi in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) against Dhaka Capitals.
His breathtaking performance surpassed Mohammad Amir's 6/17 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on January 2. He set a new benchmark for the best bowling figures in BPL history.

Taskin's spell was nothing short of magical. He struck early, removing Dhaka's star batter Litton Das in his first over, followed by Tanzid Hasan. The real carnage, however, came in his final two overs, where he picked up five wickets.
This included a dramatic final over where he dismissed Shahadat Hossain, Chaturanga de Silva, and Alauddin Babu in quick succession. His figures are not only the best in BPL but also the finest in franchise T20 league history.
He overtook some of the greats like Shakib Al Hasan and Lasith Malinga. Taskin's record-breaking feat restricted Dhaka Capitals to 174/9. In response, skipper Anamul Haque's unbeaten 73 guided Rajshahi to their first win of the tournament with 18.1 overs, chasing down the target with seven wickets to spare.
Reflecting on his achievement, Taskin said: "It couldn't have happened unless I had imagined it (laughs). To get wickets, you need the favor of luck. Alhamdulillah, I'm executing my skills well. It's a proud moment as my name will remain in BPL history even after I retire."
Taskin's 7-fer places him among an elite group in T20 cricket, alongside Malaysia's Syazrul Idrus (7/8) and Colin Ackermann (7/18). He also overtook Rubel Hossain to become the second-highest wicket-taker in BPL history with 112 scalps.
With sporting pitches offering minimal margin for error, Taskin credited discipline and adaptability for his success. "Loose balls are not forgiven. The margin for error is small, but it's good for both bowlers and batters," he added.
