Tata Motors Salutes India Women’s World Cup Heroes With Iconic Sierra

Following their historic triumph at the ICC Women's World Cup 2025, the Indian Women's Cricket Team received a special recognition from Tata Motors, marking a proud moment for Indian sport.

In a felicitation ceremony held at Bombay House on December 16, 2025, Tata Motors announced that every member of the World Cup-winning squad, along with support staff, will be presented with a Tata Sierra - the brand's recently reintroduced model described as an "icon reimagined."

The event was attended by senior Tata Group leadership, including N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd., and Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director and CEO of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. Their presence highlighted the Group's longstanding association with sporting excellence and its commitment to celebrating landmark achievements by Indian athletes.

Speaking at the ceremony, N. Chandrasekaran reflected on the wider impact of India's World Cup victory, drawing parallels with defining moments in the nation's sporting history. He said, "Every child knew where they were when the world changed for them in July 1983. One of those children who watched the men's cricket team's success became one of the world's great batsmen... Eventually, he won a world cup of his own, and it was only then that the bat finally left Sachin Tendulkar's hands."

He further added, "In the year 2025, on the 2nd of November... the women's team finally did what their faithful followers knew they were capable of. The World cup was finally theirs." Chandrasekaran praised the team's resilience, unity, and fearless approach, noting how their journey was shaped by years of persistence, learning, and belief.

Highlighting the influence of the win beyond the field, he remarked, "Their victory will reverberate through the choices of our youth... This women's team... gave them something to aim for-it gave them a memory of utter happiness, and a dream of one day surpassing it."

Concluding his address, he announced, "Today, I'm delighted that Tata Motors will give our champion cricketers and their support staff a gift of Tata Sierra in recognition of their efforts."

Tata Motors also confirmed that players will be free to choose the Sierra variant that best suits their personal preferences, underlining the company's intent to offer a thoughtful and individualised tribute. The gesture stands as a celebration of excellence, aspiration, and national pride following one of Indian cricket's most defining moments.
