The long-awaited comeback of the Hockey India League has arrived after a seven-year break. The auction for the 2024-25 season was held in Delhi on October 13 & 14, and a total of 168 players were successfully sold during the two-day event.
The eight teams have now completed their rosters for the upcoming season, marking the league's triumphant return.

The revival of the Hockey India League will undeniably have a profound impact on the Indian hockey landscape. The upcoming tournament is scheduled to commence at the end of December and extend through February, featuring women’s matches alongside men’s matches for the first time, marking an unprecedented milestone in the league's history. With eight men’s teams and six women’s teams participating, the competition unequivocally promises to usher in a new era of exhilarating and inclusive hockey action.
Team Gonasika made a statement with their top acquisitions in the auction. The star midfielder Manpreet Singh was secured for a whopping 42 lakhs, making him the most expensive buy for the team. Other formidable additions to the midfield are Vishnukant Singh, Lee Morton, Jack Waller, Jacob Draper, and Mustapha Cassiem.
The franchise strategically focused on bolstering their attacking prowess, evident from their high-value signings of Mandeep Singh, Araijeet Singh Hundal, Tom Boon, and Jeroen Hertzberger, all costing over 20 lakhs. In contrast, the defence comprises predominantly national talents, with Amir Ali standing out as the marquee signing.
