Team India Celebration: Fans throng at Mumbai Airport for a glimpse amid Rain at Wankhede Stadium

By MyKhel Staff

A huge number of fans were captured waiting at the Mumbai airport for a glimpse of the Indian cricket team on Thursday (July 4).

The entire team was felicitated in New Delhi after landing early Wednesday morning after their victorious T20 World Cup campaign. The joyous faces at the Indira Gandhi International Airport greeted the team and then the players met PM Narendra Modi.

Mumbai

Currently, the team has left for Mumbai and an open-top bus parade has been organized as well. The parade will start in the afternoon and will start from Nariman Point to the Wankhede Stadium.

In 2007, after winning the T20 World Cup, the same kind of bus parade took place in Mumbai. BCCI has also arranged a ceremony at the Wankhede Stadium.

Fans waiting at Mumbai Airport

Ahead of the event, the Indian fans were seen in numbers waiting to have a glimpse of the players in Mumbai airport. The likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli are going to be in the parade and the netizens were eager to have a look at the stars in front of their eyes.

Rain Starts at Wankhede Stadium

Amid the event preparation, BCCI announced a free entry for spectators at the stadium. The gates have been opened from 4 pm for the entry of the and and a number of fans have arrived in numbers at the stadium. But nature has dampened the mood at the stadium as rain has come down pouring at the stadium. A fan video uploaded on X showed the people drenched in water amid a thunderous rain at the stadium.

It has raised concern about the ceremony as the event will be halted until the rain stops in Mumbai. It is only an irony for the Indian team as rain is not leaving them at the moment. Team India's arrival to the country was delayed for a couple of days only because of a devastating Hurricane which hit the Caribbean islands earlier this Monday.
