Team India faces discomfort at Kolkata airport before taking off for Dhaka

Kolkata, June 9: It hardly takes 40 minutes to fly to Dhaka from here but yet such a brief journey produced a lot of confusion and discomfort for the Bangladesh-bound Indian Test squad early on Monday. [Can Bangladeshi batsman equal Test record against India?]

According to local news reports, Virat Kohli's men had to roam around inside the international terminal of the Kolkata airport for half an hour after failing to get a VIP lounge. It was only after the cricketers underwent the plight of facing their fans' affection that the team management paid Rs 50,000 to get the airport lounge, the report said.

The team, which was to catch a Jet Airways flight to Dhaka, reportedly came to know after arriving at the airport that there is no special lounge and they would have to pay for using the only lounge in the airport.

The team management complained about Jet Airways, accusing it of not informing about the unavailability of the lounge. It said the cricketers' security could have been in jeopardy had a lounge been not hired.

The management also questioned why it had to pay money for using the lounge, the report said.

Jet Airways said the decision on using the lounge is taken by the airport authorities and they could not do anything on that, the report added.
