Team India mourn Bangla cricketer's death

Port of Spain, Mar 17 (UNI) Team India today joined their Bangladesh counterparts in mournig the death of Bangla Test cricketer Manjural Islam.

The Rahul Dravid-led side stood two minutes in silence along with the Bangla team near the boundary rope before the start of their Group B campaign opener at the Queen's Park Oval.

Twenty-two-year-old Manjural and his friend, Sajjadul Islam, a local cricketer, died following a motorbike accident in southwestern district of Khulna yesterday.

Bangladesh cricketers took the field by wearing a black armband to mourn the death.

Manjural was among Bangladesh's 30 World Cup probables, but he failed to make it to the final 15.

Left-arm orthodox spinner Manjural had played six Tests and 25 ODIs since 2003. His ODI debut in 2003 was against England in Bangladesh while he made his Test debut in Zimbabwe in 2004. He had taken 23 ODI wickets and five Test wickets in his short career.
