Tendulkar completes 12000 runs in Tests, Ganguly gets 7000

Mohali, Oct.17 : Indian batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar completed 12000 runs in Tests on Friday, the first day of the second Test match between India and Australia being played here.
Tendulkar achieved the feat with his 61st run, a flick down to square-leg of Australian leg-spinner Cameron White. He was given a huge round of applause by his team mates and cricket fans.
Tendulkar, a right-hand bat has played 152 Test matches and scored 12000 runs at an astounding average of 54.29.
Earlier in his innings, Tendulkar became the highest scorer in Tests by surpassing West Indian batsman Brian Lara's record of 11953 runs. The record came with his 15th run. That landmark was also greeted with joy by players on both sides and the crowd that was watching the match.
Former India captain Sourav Ganguly, a left-hand bat, also made the Mohali Test memorable for himself by achieving his 7000th run in Tests this afternoon. Ganguly achieved his feat in his 111th Test and has an average of 42.22.
At the time of the filing of this report, Tendulkar was batting on 71 and has 12010 runs, while Ganguly was batting on 48 and has 7009 Test runs.
