Kohli, who had decided to prepare for next month's Sri Lanka tour with India A game, was dismissed LBW for 16 by left-arm spinner Ashton Agar.
The right-hander, batting at number 3, faced 42 balls and hit a four and a six before heading back to the pavilion.
In the pre-match press conference, Agar had said the entire team was excited that they have a chance to get Kohli's wicket. And today he has got the prized scalp.
"We do not have a huge strategy to bowl against him (Kohli). We focus a little bit on the opposition but we focus on ourselves more. It will be a good chance because everyone wants to play against a player like Virat Kohli. I think everyone is excited by the opportunity and want to have his wicket," Agar had said yesterday (July 28).
Captain Cheteshwar Pujara, who opened the batting, too was out for just 11 as the hosts were in early trouble losing 4 wickets for 53. They were bowled out for 135.
