Thala MS Dhoni to join hands with Thalapathy Vijay in 'GOAT' movie? Director drops a cryptic hint

Reports have been circulating for months that former Indian cricket captain MS Dhoni is set to make a surprise entry into Kollywood film industry. The rumors suggested that MS Dhoni might actually be making a cameo appearance in the highly anticipated Tamil movie 'The Greatest of All Time' (GOAT), starring none other than Thalapathy Vijay.

The reports set fans of both cricket and Kollywood abuzz with excitement and anticipation. The GOAT movie, directed by Venkat Prabhu promises to be a visual treat and the fans can't wait to witness the movie in the theatres.

The highly-anticipated science fiction action film movie is scheduled for a worldwide release on September 5, 2024, in both standard and IMAX formats and the movie boasts a staggering budget of 300 to 400 crore INR.

GOAT movie director gives a cryptic hint about MS Dhoni's acting debut

Amid the reports and widespread speculations of MS Dhoni featuring in the movie, the director Venkat Prabhu recently dropped a tantalizing hint about the Ranchi-born's involvement in the movie. In a recent interview, he mentioned, "We are featuring a CSK match in a scene in the GOAT movie - you know who will make an appearance on the screen."

This cryptic statement has led many to believe that the former CSK captain might indeed be making a special appearance. However, details about Thala Dhoni's role in the film remain tightly under wraps and we expect it to be a cameo role.

For the record, this wouldn't be Dhoni's first entry into Tamil cinema. Last year, the legendary cricketer turned producer with his first Tamil production venture, a light-hearted family drama titled LGM (Let's Get Married). The 43-year-old's decision to start his film career in Tamil cinema is no coincidence.

It is no secret that he has a deep connection with Tamil Nadu, a state that has embraced him as one of their own. Talking about his bond with Chennai, the CSK legend once said, "I do believe in destiny. My Test debut happened in Chennai. My highest Test score happened in Chennai. When it comes to cricket, there are lots of things that happened that I am proud of, which actually happened in Chennai."
