Steve Smith, Kane Williamson and Rashid Khan were among the eight big name players set to join the fifth edition of The Hundred as Direct Signings, which is being introduced for the first time with teams getting the opportunity to rope in players ahead of The Hundred Draft.
Trent Boult, Heinrich Klaasen, David Miller, Faf Du Plessis and Marcus Stoinis were the other five players who featured among the direct signings as all eight teams revealed their retentions also on the February 25th deadline.

Teams were allowed to retain up to 10 players from their 2024 squads, including one Centrally Contracted England player and up to three overseas players. A total of 63 players have been retained ahead of the draft via retentions.
England stars Jos Buttler, Phil Salt, Liam Livingstone, Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root and Ben Duckett are among the local players being retained, while Tim Southee, Adam Milne and Finn Allen are some of the overseas players who will continue with their respective teams.
According to ESPNcricinfo, the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) will hold a mini 'central contract draft' later this week after London Spirit and Welsh Fire opted for a reshuffle, with the player draft set for March 12.
