“These Two Points Were Very Important”: Krunal Pandya Stars in RCB’s Last-Ball Win
Royal Challengers Bengaluru climbed to the top of the IPL 2026 points table after pulling off a dramatic last-ball victory over Mumbai Indians in Raipur, with Krunal Pandya and Bhuvneshwar Kumar emerging as the two defining heroes of the night.
While Krunal anchored the innings with a crucial 73 off 46 balls under pressure, Bhuvneshwar once again produced a masterclass with the ball, finishing with match-winning figures of 4/23 on a difficult surface.

The result significantly strengthened RCB's playoff push heading into the final phase of the league stage.
Krunal Pandya delivers when RCB needed him most
RCB found themselves under pressure during the middle phase of the innings before Krunal Pandya stabilised the chase with one of his best knocks of the season.
The left-hander not only absorbed pressure but also accelerated at key moments, helping RCB stay alive in a tense contest that eventually went down to the final delivery.
Reflecting on the innings after the match, Krunal admitted the situation made the contribution even more satisfying.
"It's still very fresh, but I am really happy that I was able to contribute, especially when the team needed it the most. At a crucial stage of the tournament, these two points were very important for us," Krunal said.
He also credited Jacob Bethell for helping shift momentum back toward RCB during a crucial partnership.
"Beth and I had a chat when I walked in. A lot of credit goes to him as well because he stuck on to it and we built a very crucial partnership on a tricky wicket," he added.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar continues dream IPL 2026 season
If Krunal kept RCB alive with the bat, Bhuvneshwar Kumar controlled the game with the ball.
The veteran pacer once again showcased why he has become one of the standout bowlers of IPL 2026, using discipline, swing and intelligent changes of pace to dismantle Mumbai's batting lineup on a two-paced wicket.
His 4/23 spell also pushed him to the top of the Purple Cap standings with 21 wickets this season.
Speaking after the game, Bhuvneshwar explained that discipline - rather than motivation - remains the biggest reason behind his longevity and consistency.
"The thing which keeps me going is discipline. Motivation is a very overrated word for me. Credit also goes to the physios and trainers who help me stay in shape throughout the year," Bhuvneshwar said.
The 36-year-old also spoke about adjusting quickly to the conditions in Raipur.
"It's all about reading the conditions as quickly as possible. Today there was help in the wicket when you hit the right lengths and thankfully things worked in our favour," he added.
Rajat Patidar praises senior players for stepping up
RCB captain Rajat Patidar reserved special praise for both Krunal and Bhuvneshwar after the match, acknowledging the impact experienced players can have during high-pressure moments.
"I think KP is the man who has done it for the team. Players with experience step up on the big stage when the team is under pressure," Patidar said.
The RCB skipper also described Bhuvneshwar's spell as one of the toughest he has seen this season.
"The way Bhuvi controlled the ball on a two-paced wicket with variable bounce was unbelievable. It was very difficult to play him today," he added.
RCB building momentum at the perfect time
After a few inconsistent performances earlier in the campaign, RCB now appear to be gathering momentum at exactly the right stage of IPL 2026.
The emergence of Bhuvneshwar as the leader of the bowling attack, combined with experienced match-winning contributions from players like Krunal Pandya, has added greater balance to the side ahead of the playoffs race.
Most importantly, RCB are beginning to look like a team capable of winning pressure games - something that could become decisive in the closing weeks of the season.
