Delhi Capitals bought a total of nine players in the IPL 2024 auction, but suffered a major setback after Harry Brook withdrew his name to be with his family who are grieving after the loss of his grandmother.
Harry Brook was expected to play a crucial role in the Delhi Capitals (DC) batting line-up. The Rishabh Pant-led team recently signed Australian top-order batter Jake Fraser-McGurk as the replacement for injured South Africa pacer Lungi Ngidi.

Jhye Richardson: The Australian pacer was bought for Rs 5 crore at the IPL 2024 auction. The player was first bought by Punjab Kings (PBKS) for Rs 14 crore ahead of IPL 2021.
Mumbai Indians got him for Rs 1.50 crore in the IPL 2023 auction. He played no matches last year but featured in three matches in 2021 for Punjab and picked three wickets at an average of 39 and an economy rate of 10.63.
In Richardson Delhi have got a genuine overseas speedster who can tag alongside Anrich Nortje, and Mukesh Kumar. Also, Delhi have a back up ready in case Nortje is unfortunately injured. The 27-year-old has picked 116 wickets in 91 matches at an average of 22.75 and an economy rate of 7.97.
Kumar Kushagra: Delhi Capitas splashed Rs 7.20 crore to get the services of uncapped Kumar Kushagra. The 19-year-old Bokaro-born wicketkeeper-batter has featured in 19 first-class matches at an average of 1245 at an average of 40.16.
The right-hand batter has scored 700 runs at an average of 46.66 in 23 List A matches, and a strike rate of 89.05. Kushagra has also played 11 T20 matches and scored 140 runs at an average of 15.55 and strike rate of 117.64.
Shai Hope: West Indies ODI captain has been bought for Rs 75 lakh by Delhi Capitals for the IPL 2024. Delhi lack many experienced batters in their lineup, and the presence of Shai Hope is expected to provide a major cushion to Delhi.
Hope hasn't played any IPL match till date, and would be looking to make a stunning debut. The T20 World Cup 2024 is also approaching, and Hope would be expecting to make full use of the opportunity to gear up for the tournament at home.
