T20 World Cup 2024: Three Indian batters who must rise from the ashes in Super 8

Team India led by Rohit Sharma pocketed three wins on the trot, which was more than enough for them to advance to the Super 8 of T20 World Cup 2024. The Men in Blue's most recent game against Canada was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to rain and the game ended in a tie.

Rohit Sharma & Co. topped the points table with 5 points. The competition is going to get tougher as the tournament progresses. Team India is clubbed with the likes of Australia, Afghanistan and Bangladesh. The Men in Blue will play all their games in the Caribbean islands.

T20 World Cup 2024 Three Indian batters who must rise from the ashes

The Men in Blue will lock horns with Afghanistan in their first game of Super 8 on Thursday (June 20). After that, they will play against Bangladesh on June 22 before facing Australia in their last Super 8 game on June 24.

As the tournament's competitiveness is going to amplify by a notch, it is imperative for the Indian batters to up the ante and lead the attack by example, in an attempt to dominate the opposition. Let's now stroll at the three Indian batters who should rise to the occasion in the Super 8's.

1. Virat Kohli: The star batter was in scintillating form in IPL 2024 and deservedly won the Orange Cap for scoring the most runs (741). Nevertheless, he failed to carry his rich form into the T20 World Cup 2024 where he registered a string of single-digit scores such as 1, 4, and 0. The Indian cricket fraternity will expect him to bring his A-game in the Super 8's.

2. Rohit Sharma: Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has also been in dismal form in the ongoing marquee event. The senior pro scored 68 runs in three innings at an average of 17. Apart from his match-winning fifty against Ireland, he failed to live up to his expectations. He will be looking forward to playing the game with intent and dominating the opponents from the get-go.

3. Shivam Dube: Shivam Dube earned his maiden call-up for an ICC event after performing incredibly well for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2024. He scored 396 runs in 14 games and the selectors had a hunch that he would come in handy in the middle-order.

However, he hasn't quite been able to switch gears in the middle order, wherein he mustered 59 runs in 3 games. Dube who is known for his six-hitting abilities will be hoping to turn the screws on oppositions in the games to come.
