The Tiigers of Kolkata, one of the franchises of the inaugural Indian Street Premier League (ISPL), will be taking centre stage in the tournament after securing a decent squad in the auction.
The unique cricket tournament, which will be played with tennis balls instead of deuce ball, will start from March 6 and will continue till March 15. The tournament will be played at the Dadoji Kondadev Stadium in Thane.

Tiigers of Kolkata team is owned by Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor. The name has a connection with the owners as Saif Ali Khan's father late Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi was known as Tiger. Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi was also a former captain of the Indian cricket team and was known for his flamboyance.
Tiigers of Kolkata splashed Rs 87.35 lakh to recruit the sixteen players in the auction. They signed three players from the East Zone and went for five players from the West Zone.
West Zone all-rounder Bhavesh Pawar is Tiigers of Kolkata's biggest buy for Rs. 11.5 lakh, followed by Fardeen Kazi, who went for Rs 11 lakh. The Tigers have also roped in the most expensive U19 player, as youngster Uzair Shaikh was roped in for Rs 5.75 lakh.
