Tilak Varma broke a record and surpassed Virat Kohli's feat on Saturday (January 25) with a match-winning knock for India during the second T20I against England at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
The left-handed batter scored an unbeaten 72 off 55 balls at Chepauk as India registered a 2-wicket win with four balls to spare against England and claimed a 2-0 lead in the five-match series.

His innings included 5 sixes and 4 fours, taking his current tally to 318 runs in T20Is without being dismissed, which is the highest for a player representing an ICC full member nation. Varma had undefeated scores of 19*, 120*, and 107* in his previous three T20I innings.
With this, the Indian batter broke the record held by New Zealand's Mark Chapman, who had amassed 271 runs without getting out earlier. Varma still has a chance to add to that record in the upcoming matches.
Australian duo of Aaron Finch and David Warner as well as India's Shreyas Iyer are the other players in the top five for batters scoring most runs between two dismissals in the shortest format on the international stage.
The 22-year-old Varma also went past Kohli's tally of 258 to become the Indian batter with the most runs across four consecutive T20I innings, amassing an incredible 318 runs without being dismissed. India's previous bests also include Sanju Samson (257), Rohit Sharma (253), and Shikhar Dhawan (252).
Coming back to the match, India were in a spot of bother in the run chase of 166 as Tilak lost partners at the other end with the scorecard reading 126/7 when Axar Patel fell in the 15th over. The youngster, however, kept his cool and got the job done for the home side.
