Hyderabad and India batter Tilak Varma is set to lead the South Zone as they have named the squad for the upcoming Duleep Trophy.
The Duleep Trophy is a prestigious domestic first-class cricket competition in India, established by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in the 1961-62 season. Named after the renowned cricketer Kumar Shri Duleepsinhji, commonly known as Duleep, the tournament originally featured teams representing India's geographical zones- North, South, East, West, Central and North East.

For the 2025-26 season, South Zone will start the competition from the Semifinal stage along with West Zone, and will take on the winner between either of the two matches - North vs East Zone, Central vs North East Zone.
Tilak Varma has been appointed as captain, while the likes of Tanmay Agarwal and Tanay Thyagrajan are the other Hyderabad players in the squad. India batter Devdutt Padikkal will be representing Karnataka along with Vijaykumar Vyshak, Vijaykumar Vyshak.
Kerala, after their Ranji Trophy runners-up campaign, sees four players included in the Duleep Trophy squad. Mohammad Azharuddeen has named vice-captain, while Salman Nizar, Nidheesh MD and Basil NP have also made the team. Young Kerala pacer Eden Apple Tom is named among the reserves.
Sai Kishore, Gurjapneet Singh, N Jagadeesan are set to represent Tamil Nadu while Ricky Bhui and Tripurana Vijay have been named from Andhra Pradesh. Mohit Kale and Snehal Kauthankar are the sole representatives for Pondicherry and Goa, respectively.
