Time to support cricketers: Yograj Singh
Chandigarh, March 30 (UNI) Former Test all-rounder Yograj Singh today strongly suggested that every one should stand with the Indian cricket team which failed to qualify for the super eights in the ongoing 2007 World Cup in the West Indies.
Interacting with the media here, Yograj Singh, father of flamboyant cricketer Yuvraj Singh, said, ''I, like any other Indian, am equally disappointed with the Indian team's performance in the World Cup. However, it was a balanced and a balanced team. Reason for the dismal show is due to chances. Just it happened as they could not click. You cannot predict in cricket. Take the case of 1983 World Cup which India unexpectedly lifted.'' ''This is the time we must stand with the Indian cricketers. This hour they hey need us the most.We should extend full support to them despite our disappointment,'' said Singh.
Asked to point out the persons responsible for the poor show, Singh said, ''The time was not on the side of the Indian cricketers. Blame cannot be put on any individual.'' He said coach Greg Chappell was not responsible for the pathetic display.
