33 runs! 5 sixes! - Watch how a Crazy Over changed Nellai Super Kings fortunes in TNPL 2023

Tirunelveli witnessed a crazy match in the TNPL 2023 on Monday (July 10) between Nellai Royal Kings and Dindigul Dragons.

The two teams met in the Qualifier 2 and provided an excellent match. Although the Dragons looked like favourites to win the match at one stage, it was a crazy over which completely changed the outcome.

TNPL 2023

Nellai Royal Kings won the match in the last ball and will now face Lyca Kovai Kings in the TNPL 2023 Final.

What happened in TNPL 2023 NRK vs DD Match?

Dindigul Dragons (DD) posted 185 runs after batting first. Nellai Royal Kings (NRK), in the chase, had a struggle and were 129 for 3 in 16.3 overs. Nidhish Rajagopal was struggling with just 26 off 27 balls and retired out.

With 56 runs required in 21 balls, Rithik Easwaran came into the crease. Along with him on the other side was Ajitesh Guruswamy. The duo started to find the gaps and clear the fence, but NRK still required 37 runs off the last two overs.

Then the magic happened.

Dindigul captain Vimal Khumar brought in G Kishoor to bowl the penultimate over. The 23-year-old pacer conceded 17 runs off his previous 2 overs, and the DD captain showed faith in the youngster.

But the decision proved to be a disaster as Rithik Easwaran took him apart. Easwaran went berserk in the over and hit three sixes in the first three balls. In the fourth ball, a single was taken and Guruswamy hit a six in the fifth ball.

Already jittered, Kishoor bowled a no-ball in his final delivery and had to bowl it, which went for another maximum as 33 runs were conceded.

The over timeline showed - 6, 6, 6, 1, 6, 1NB, 6 - and NRK required just 4 runs off the final over. NRK won it safely as Easwaran hit a six in the final ball to ensure the victory.

"I am out of breath right now but happy to go to the final. The first two balls clicked and then we went on from there," a jubilant Easwaran said after the match as he scored an unbeaten 39 off just 11 balls.
