What happened with R Ashwin in TNPL 2025?

R Ashwin was given out in the match between Dindigul Dragons and Tiruppur Tamizhans and that caused the outrage. Ashwin, was given lbw by female umpire Krithika Venkatesen in the bowling of Sai Kishore. The Dindigul captain thought the ball had pitched outside the leg stump and started arguing with the umpire.

"Ashwin said 'he bowled from over the stumps, ma'am', arguing his case that the ball was pitched well outside leg stump," a commentator said on-air, explaining Ashwin's words.

The Chennai Super Kings star's plea was unheard, and he went back to the dugout angrily, which saw the veteran slamming his bat to his pads as well.

The match also went south for the Dragons after Ashwin's dismissal. The off-spinner opened the batting and was the first player to be dismissed, and things turned to the worse for his team. Esakkimuthu picked up 4 wickets as the Dindigul side was bundled out for just 93 runs. In the run chase, Tushar Raheja scored an unbeaten 65 runs as the Tiruppur side won easily by 9 wickets. This was the first defeat for Dindigul, while the first win for the Tamizhans.
