Today's innings one of the most memorable: Dhoni
Dhaka, May 10 (UNI) Mahendra Singh Dhoni rated his unbeaten 91 against Bangladesh in the first one-dayer today as one of the most memorable innings of his career.
Dhoni fought a crippling cramp on his right hamstring muscle to remain undefeated on 91 that saw India go one up in the three-match ODI series here.
Asked if it was an innings that signalled him coming back to form after a string of poor performances in the World Cup, he said, ''I would not like to link this with anything.'' Asked to compare this with his innings of 183 and 147 he made previously, he said, ''I don't like to compare but this is one I would rate with the one against Zimbabwe when India was down to five wickets for some 100-odd runs.'' About the cramp, Dhoni, who rightfully got the man-of -the-match award, said, ''I had enormous pain on my right leg. But I knew I had to carry on. It's not easy to bat under those hot conditions.'' ''Once Yuvraj came in as my runner we decided to carry on till the end (47th over). There were a few confusions between us, but Yuvi took few excellent singles for me,'' he said.
He lauded Dinesh Karthik for his tremendous innings.
''Karthik played a perfect role at the other end,'' he said.
