Lucknow Super Giants registered a crucial victory over Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2024 on Friday (April 19) at the BRSAVB Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.
LSG ended their two-game losing streak with a comprehensive victory at home. Chennai Super Kings suffered their third defeat of the season.

Chennai Super Kings scored 176 for 6 in their 20 overs after LSG put them into bat. Ravindra Jadeja scored a brilliant half-century while Ajinkya Rahane, Moeen Ali and MS Dhoni also contributed with the bat. Lucknow chased the target down in the last over. Their captain KL Rahul played a fantastic knock of 82 runs in 53 balls while Quinton de Kock also scored a half-century.
Lucknow tightened the leash on CSK batters in the middle overs. From over 7 to 16, the Super Kings could only manage 62 runs and lost three wickets, which marred their momentum and played a telling part in the outcome.
MS Dhoni showed his brilliance and class with another fantastic knock. The CSK veteran came late at the crease and dismantled the Lucknow bowlers. He made 28 runs off just 9 balls and hit three fours and two massive sixes. CSK wouldn't have gone as far as 176 without Dhoni's pyrotechnics.

KL Rahul constructed a superb knock in the run chase. The LSG captain scored 82 runs off 53 balls and steered his team towards victory. He looked controlled in his knock and managed to keep the momentum entirely. Although Rahul couldn't stay till the end, his knock ensured LSG's victory only a matter of time.
It was a disappointing outing for the CSK pace quartet. The foreigner duo Matheesha Pathirana and Mustafizur Rahman got one wicket each but the latter was expensive. Deepak Chahar and Tushar Deshpande, their domestic spearheads were all over the place and couldn't showcase their prowess at all.
It was a massive victory for Lucknow Super Giants as they lost the last two matches, KL Rahul led his team perfectly, and they had a near-perfect game at home. With this victory, Lucknow Super Giants remain 5th in the table but have 8 points in seven matches. CSK remain 3rd in the table with 8 points in seven matches.
These two teams will meet within four days as the reverse fixture is on Tuesday (April 23) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
