'Told Virender you don't know how to play, he got out next ball': Ex-Pakistan pacer's sensational claim

Former Pakistan pacer Naved-ul-Hasan has claimed that he once intentionally provoked Virender Sehwag and the trick worked as he got out on the very next ball.

Naved-ul-Hasan, who picked 18 wickets in nine Test matches for Pakistan, revealed that he bowled Sehwag a bouncer and went up to him and sledged him by saying that he doesn't know how to play. Naved added that he also told Sehwag that he would never have made it to international cricket in Pakistan.

"Sehwag was the easiest to dismiss and the most difficult to bowl at was Rahul Dravid," said Naved-ul-Hasan on Nadir Ali podcast.

“There was a match where Sehwag was playing on 85. Sehwag was smashing every bowler from our team and they (India) were close to 300. I asked Inzy bhai (then Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq) to give me the ball. I bowled a slow bouncer, went up to him and said 'you don’t know how to play. Had you been in Pakistan, I don’t think you would have ever made it to the national team,” he added.

As per Naved's claim the trick worked immediately and a fuming Sehwag got out while clearing the boundary ropes on the next delivery.

“Sehwag said something in return and on my way back I told Inzy bhai 'next ball he'll be out’. He was surprised. I bowled a back-of-the-hand slower ball, and an agitated Sehwag tried to smash it over the ropes but got out in the process. The wicket was so important that we won that match. These are certain tricks of the fast bowler,” he added.

Apart from nine Tests, Naved-ul-Hasan also played 74 ODIs and 4 T20Is in which he picked 110 and 5 wickets respectively.
