New Delhi, July 27: The Board of Control for Cricket in India adopted a rather bold stand in its Special General Meeting and decided to table five "difficult" to implement recommendations of Lodha Committee before the Supreme Court soon. In the first week of this month, the Board, in fact, had zeroed in on four tough recommendations.
The acting secretary of BCCI Amitabh Choudhary listed the five recommendations that were identified as "difficult to implement." 1. Membership which includes retaining the full structure of the BCCI; 2. Streamlining the powers/duties of the executives and office-bearers of the board, 3. Forming an apex council, 4. Size of the national selection committee; 5 Restriction/disqualification of office-bearers which includes age-cap, tenure and the issue of including government servants/ministers.
It's understood that the BCCI is willing to adopt other Lodha Committee suggestions.
Even before the start of the SGM, the members sent out a strong message about their intentions asking BCCI CEO Rahul Johri to leave the meeting room.
"The SC had said the SGM could be only attended by the office-bearers. That's why we had to ask a few people to leave and the meeting got delayed by half an hour," Choudhary said.
