U19 Women's T20 World Cup 2025: Gongadi Trisha smashes historic first-ever century as India beat Bangladesh

By MyKhel Staff

In a landmark moment for the U19 Women's T20 World Cup 2025, India's Gongadi Trisha etched her name in the record books by smashing the tournament's first-ever century.

The 19-year-old batting sensation accomplished this feat during India's last Super Six clash against Bangladesh at the Bayuemas Oval, Kuala Lumpur, on January 28, 2025.

Trisha reached her century in just 53 deliveries, a remarkable display of power and precision, marking a new high in the tournament's history. Trisha, who opened the innings, remained unbeaten on 110 runs off 59 balls. Her spectacular knock was studded with 13 boundaries and four sixes, propelling India to a formidable 208/1.

She formed a commanding 147-run opening stand with her partner G Kamalini, who contributed 51 off 42 deliveries before being dismissed in the 14th over. Trisha's innings not only secured India's victory but also set the highest individual score in the tournament's history, surpassing Grace Scrivens' previous record of 93 runs.

This stellar performance further solidifies Trisha's reputation as one of the brightest talents in women's cricket. She has been a standout performer in 2025, building on her success from the U19 Women's Asia Cup in Kuala Lumpur, where she was the leading run-scorer with 159 runs at an average of 53. Her form has carried into the World Cup, where she currently tops the run-scoring charts.

Trisha's journey to this historic feat has been one of resilience and growth. She was part of the Indian team that clinched the inaugural U19 Women's T20 World Cup title in 2023. In that campaign, she tallied 116 runs, with her best score being 57 against Scotland. While her efforts went unrecognized during the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2025 auction, where she went unsold despite a base price of ₹10 lakh, her recent exploits prove she's a star in the making.

India's commanding win over Bangladesh and Trisha's milestone reinforce their dominance in the U19 Women's T20 World Cup as they now move on to the semifinals and will either take on South Africa or England on January 31.
