UAE Script History Against Bangladesh, Become First Associate Nation To Achieve THIS Huge T20I Record

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) pulled off a sensational win against Bangladesh in the second T20I of the three-match series at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, recording their biggest-ever victory in the format.

Chasing a mammoth target of 206 runs on May 19, the hosts stunned the visitors with a last-ball win to level the series 1-1 and etch their name into the record books.

UAE

This victory marked the first time UAE had defeated Bangladesh in a T20 International and also set a new benchmark - the highest successful run chase by an Associate nation against a Full Member team in T20I history.

Bangladesh, after being asked to bat first, posted a formidable 205/5 in their 20 overs. Tanzid Hasan led the charge with a blistering 59 off 33 balls, while Litton Das supported well with a 40-run knock off 32 deliveries.

Despite the strong total, the absence of experienced pacer Mustafizur Rahman, who departed for the IPL after the first match, was keenly felt in the closing stages of the game.

In reply, UAE's innings was anchored by skipper Muhammad Waseem, who played a captain's knock, smashing 82 runs off just 42 deliveries. His opening partner, Muhammad Jawad, added 38 off 23 balls, helping UAE to a rapid start of 68 runs in the powerplay.

Bangladesh bowlers Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Nahid Rana came under pressure, conceding 18 runs each in the final two overs of the powerplay.

Though UAE lost both openers by the 15th over at 148/3, the middle order held firm. Asif Khan's 19 off 12 balls and Alishan Sharafu's 13 off 9 brought UAE within touching distance. With 29 required off the final two overs, the match hung in the balance.

Haider Ali then delivered a nerveless cameo, scoring 15 off 6 balls, while Dhruv Parashar chipped in with a crucial 11 from 7 deliveries. The duo guided UAE to a thrilling win off the last ball, sparking wild celebrations.

The series decider is scheduled for May 21, with UAE riding high on confidence and momentum.
