Uday Kaul scores 81 runs for Punjab

Patiala, Oct 19 (UNI) Uday Kaul, Punjab's Ranji Trophy southpaw batsman, scored a solid 81 to help Punjab pile up an imposing total of 347 in 126 overs before being all out against Delhi on the second day of the 4-day tie in North Zone Inter-State C K Nayadu (Under-22) Trophy here at the Dhruve Pandove Cricket Stadium.

Overnight 189 for 4 in 49.1 overs, the Punjab batsmen played with great responsibility to pile up a respectable total. M Sadana, who was unbeaten on 33 yesterday, went on to score 61 useful runs. Along with Uday Kaul, he made merry of the Delhi bowlers who hardly created any impression.

For Delhi, Narendra Singh bowled well to capture 4 wickets, conceding 59 runs. Gaurav Chhabra took 2 for 20 and Vikas Tokas also bagged 2 wickets, giving away 93 runs.

In reply, Delhi were 33 for 1 in 9 overs at stumps. Siddharth Kaul captured the only wicket to fall when opener Rajat Gupta departed for 21.

The task before Delhi is big enough and it will be interesting to see how they bat on the penultimate day of the crucial match.
