Umran Malik has emerged as one of the speedsters of Indian bowling in recent years. The pacey bowler has made a massive name for himself as an express bowler, clocking over 150 kmph regularly.
Umran's emergence in the IPL with Sunrisers Hyderabad earned him an India call-up, and the bowler has made his mark as a T20 specialist. But ahead of the T20I World Cup next year, his immediate cricketing future is under the cloud.

Umran Malik was supposed to play for Jammu and Kashmir in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, but the bowler has recently suffered an injury in their first match. The speedster injured his foot while bowling against Karnataka in J&K's first Vijay Hazare Trophy match, and was subsequently taken off the field.
Although the severity of his injury is not confirmed, it is feared the player may be out for the rest of the tournament.
Umran Malik's raw pace has been one of the reasons why he has found himself in and around the Indian team. Although there are still some fine-tuning required, the pacestar from Jammu and Kashmir was seriously being considered for the upcoming T20 World Cup next year, which is set to be held in the West Indies and USA.
But the fresh injury for Umran Malik has further jeopardized his chances for the tournament. With no limited-over domestic games after the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Malik will have to turn up at his best in the IPL, if he makes it. Only a stellar IPL 2024 can further draw him back to the team India reckoning for T20 World Cup.
The 24-year-old has played in 10 ODIs and 8 T20Is for India, picking up 13 and 11 wickets in those formats respectively. His last India appearance came against West Indies in July.
