Unadkat, Tye biggest buys; Morgan unsold

Bengaluru, January 28: Left-arm fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat joined the Indian Premier League (IPL) riches by joining Rajasthan Royals for Rs 11.5 crore as the curtains came down on the auctions.

After snapping up England all-rounder Ben Stokes for Rs 12.5 cr on the opening day, the Royals made Unadkat their second most expensive buy and the top-priced Indian in the auction.

IPL riches in a nutshell

The second and concluding day of IPL auction belonged to Indian talent with the 26-year-old, who has played one Test, seven One-day Internationals and four Twenty20's, drawing bigger bids than some big home names.

Stokes and Unadkat will join Australian captain Steven Smith, who will lead the Royals. The team are returning to the most lucrative T20 league after a two-year illegal gambling ban. The team also spent Rs 6.2 crore for uncapped off-spinner K Gowtham.

Royal Challengers Bangalore's Chris Gayle, who went unsold on the opening day, was finally bought by Kings XI Punjab for his base price of Rs 2 cr.

Kings XI also bought Aussie one-day specialist bowler Andrew Tye for Rs 7.2 cr, which was the second biggest buy of the day.

However, a long list of oversees players went unsold in the IPL auction with England one-day captain Eoin Morgan topping them all.

Other big names include England's Test captain Joe Root, compatriot Alex Hales, wicketkeeper-batsman Jonny Bairstow, veteran South African paceman Dale Steyn, Australians James Faulkner, Shaun Marsh and Nathan Lyon and New Zealand all-rounder Corey Anderson.

The 2018 IPL will be held from April 4 to May 31.
