Unsold in the IPL Mega Auction 2025, Gujarat's Urvil Patel has sent a message to the franchises for passing on him with a couple of blazing centuries in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024-25.
Days after being ignored in the IPL big auction, the 26-year-old wicketkeeper-batter smashed the second fastest T20 hundred during the SMAT for Gujarat against Tripura at the Emerald High School Ground in Indore.

After he smashed a century in just 28 balls to join the unique list, Urvil Patel has once again scored a swift hundred in the domestic T20 tournament at the same venue in Indore. On Tuesday (December 3), Urvil reached the three-figure mark in 36 balls.
The right-hander, who opened the batting, scored an unbeaten 115 off just 41 balls, to guide Gujarat to a dominant victory over Uttarakhand in the SMAT. His knock included 11 sixes and 8 fours.
Gujarat won the toss and elected to field. Ravikumar Samarth (54) and Aditya Tare (54) powered Uttarakhand to a competitive 182/7 in 20 overs. However, Urvil's explosive knock helped Gujarat make lightwork of the chase, reaching the target in just 13.1 overs.
Earlier on November 27, Urvil hammered 100 off just 28 balls and finised the innings unbeaten on 113 off 35 balls. His knock included 12 sixes and 7 fours that day as he smashed the second fastest ton in the shortest format across tournaments.
While he remained unsold in the recent IPL Auction, the Gujarat wicketkeeper-batter had been picked during the 2023 auction by his hometown side Gujarat Titans, who bought the stumper for the base price of Rs 20 Lakh.
However, the Titans released the local talent ahead of the 2024 season without giving the youngster a chance to showcase his ability. Many teams needed a wicketkeeper-batter, and could have made use of Urvil in his current form.
For Urvil Patel and some of the other domestic talent, the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy may have started a little too late as the tournament only started a day before the big IPL auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
