Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, the young Indian prodigal cricketing talent who has always remained in the spotlight, has said that he is unfazed by all the media attention that he gets.
Speaking at the jersey launch of the Rajasthan Royals ahead of the 19th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), this will be the second IPL season for the explosive left-hand batsman.

In the last season, Sooryavanshi had set the alarm bells ringing, smashing a six off his very first IPL ball against the experienced seamer Shardul Thakur (Lucknow Super Giants). Sooryavanshi later on went on to become the youngest centurion of the IPL when he smashed 101 off 38 balls against the Gujarat Titans. His 35-ball century also made him the youngest centurion to reach the three-figure mark.
He finished the season with 252 runs in 7 matches, scoring at an impressive strike rate of 206.55. Notably, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi hit more sixes (24) than fours (18), highlighting the teenager's fearless approach and remarkable power-hitting ability.
Sooryavanshi carried that momentum forward later in the year, playing a key role for the Indian U-19 team in two Youth Asia Cup tournaments, where India ended up finishing as runners-up. He also played a pivotal role in the team's triumph at the U-19 World Cup, scoring 175 in the final against England, which led to the highest score in a U-19 World Cup Final.
On Monday, March 16, 2026, during an event where the Rajasthan Royals unveiled their new jersey and announced JK Lakshmi Cement as their principal sponsor for the upcoming IPL season, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi spoke about his ambitions for the tournament.
When asked about the number of runs he is aiming to score, Sooryavanshi responded in a light-hearted manner, saying, "As a batter, I'd love to say 1000 or 2000 runs, but at the end of the day, contributing to the team's victories is what truly matters."
The southpaw was also asked about the growing spotlight around him and how he manages to remain grounded. Responding to it, he said, "I just try to focus on my work. In any field if you do well, you are bound to get attention. But I am not focusing on that attention. I just want to concentrate on my job."
Despite his brief career so far, he has already captivated cricket fans with his dazzling stroke play and aggressive innings. When asked to pick his favourite performance, the young prodigy pointed to his blistering 175 off just 80 deliveries against England in the U-19 World Cup final in Zimbabwe earlier this year.
"My personal favourite is the final knock in the U-19 World Cup (in Harare). I could only play one U-19 World Cup. It was a proud moment for me to score a hundred in the final. What I contributed to the team in the final was special," he said at the sidelines of the event.
